The Senior Financial Analyst will report to the Regional Director and will be a key member of the Latin America team. This role will be responsible for handling general accounting and financial analysis on business performance and assisting with month end/year end closing processes. This position requires a strong understanding of accounting principles and analytical ability to interpret data.  Ideal candidate must have strong communication skills and be capable of multitasking and managing priorities, while supporting and driving positive process changes across the business.  

Job Responsibilities

  • Deliver monthly financial and variance analysis reports, performance indicators, forecast and profit mix vs budget analysis including commentary on key sales drivers, risks and opportunities related to volume, price and mix to support decision-making process to Divisional MD, Sales Managers and Commercial Finance Director;
  • Perform R&O analysis for the division, assessing sales performance gaps and promoting accountability to close these gaps with the sales and NY Commercial Finance teams.
  • Assist in month-end accounting close responsibilities; including preparing journal entries for various advertising and promotional accruals, logistic costs, and assist in preparing an analysis of discounts and rebates.
  • Liaise with Commercial finance team to help produce analysis of depletion and shipment data.
  • Control and review Division margins, revenue, A&P Budget and report depletions, selling costs and overheads to deliver annual profit plan while providing timely reporting and follow up.
  • Provide recommendations in pricing, commercial conditions and payment terms with key division stakeholders and ensure accurate data is being captured in Vistar system monitoring the implementation of agreed price changes for shelf products.
  • Monitor and influence distributor inventory levels driving allocation and maximization of stock.
  • Provide ROI analysis to assess program impacts in key selling channels, evaluate its effectiveness and build successful programs to “stop, start, continue” and analyze different perspectives.
  • Manage division customer and distributor P&L, including commentary and action plans.
  • Coordinate analytical analysis and commentary for the production of a monthly financial reporting pack.
  • Collaborate with Budget and Forecast submissions, and special projects including budget and strategic presentations.
  • Compile all budget, planning, and forecasting data related to corporate finance and produce timely submissions of data based on global requirements.
  • Reconcile LATAM accounts with the UK Global P&L investigating and troubleshooting discrepancies and accounting issues.
  • Lead projects to redesign systems and processes to streamline and improve financial analysis.
  • Manipulate data from multiple ERP systems and interrogate key financial accounts to ensure system generated transactions are maintained properly.
  • Prepare documents and schedules requested from internal/external auditors and ensure annual financial results are in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
  • Assist on 5 year plan preparation including P&L, balance sheet, and cash flow annually.
  • Assist with ad-hoc projects and special assignments as needed.

Knowledge, Skills & Core Competencies Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required, MBA preferred
  • CPA is preferred
  • Experience working with Latin America & The Caribbean Markets
  • 3-5+ years’ experience in mid-large size corporate finance environment or public accounting firm
  • Thorough understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
  • Strong background in financial statement planning and analytics required
  • SAP experience is a plus
  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel including experience with Macro’s and data manipulation
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and in a team environment with all levels of the organization
  • Experience building financial statement models from scratch
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills are essential
  • Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills
  • Must be at least 21 years of age
  • Must be able to legally work in the US
  • Travel requirements up to 30% as needed to perform job function
  • Full proficiency in English and Spanish language. Portuguese is a plus.
