The EVP/Commercial Director role is to set and lead the commercial business strategy for Edrington in North America, by leading 5 divisions of well-rounded Commercial Business Managers, leveraging their collective strengths to simultaneously deliver aggressive short-term results while building long-term brand value.  Key pillars of the position include: Luxury Commercial management, Portfolio building, Strategic Negotiations, Distributor Management, Brand Building strategy, Pricing Management, P&L Management, Supply Chain & Compliance, DTC and Digital Strategy, most importantly Coaching & Mentoring of over 100 professionals.  The collective result will be complete P&L management and continued exceptional growth of the Edrington brands.

The EVP/Commercial Director role will chair the Commercial Leadership Team which will help to shape the overall business strategy in the Americas.

Job Responsibilities

Responsibilities of the EVP/Commercial Director include, but are not limited to:

  • Set and lead the Americas business strategy with the Executive Team
  • Develop and embed a luxury selling strategy across North America to deliver yearly profit growth and simultaneously grow brand equity
  • Accelerate the growth of a highly acclaimed and lesser known brand
  • Lead the continued evolution of the Edrington Americas business to develop gold-standard organizational capabilities
  • Lead Edrington to become a recognized leader in the beverage industry by key stakeholders
  • Cultivate new opportunities for our Super Premium Challenger Brands across North Americas
  • Distributor Management: Build exceptional business relationships, drive brand focus, manage performance & delivery, and provide leading customer service
  • Brand Building:  Challenge the status-quo and put the consumer at the heart of the conversation, oversee the planning and execution of the local marketing plans, support all nationally lead activities at the local level, act as an unwavering brand guardian
  • Pricing Management:  Oversee the implementation and execution of the pricing strategy, selling costs and margins negotiations, maintain an active awareness of competitive activity
  • P&L Management:  Drive overall business profitability, grow brand value, set A&P, additional local marketing investments, selling costs, and overheads to deliver the annual profit plan
  • Supply Chain & Compliance:  Drive the allocation strategy, support exceptional customer service, and ensure industry leading legal compliance
  • Coaching & Mentoring:  Provide formal and informal feedback to each member of the Commercial Team, support further understanding and capabilities development across the wider Edrington Americas business, set an example for our people
  • Represent Edrington Americas at many industry events

Knowledge, Skills & Core Competencies Required

Key Competencies

  • A strong understanding of luxury mind-set and decision making
  • A proven track record in a change oriented and entrepreneurial environment
  • Thorough understanding of the 3 tier system is a must
  • An ability to provide leading customer deliver is a must
  • Understanding of marketing strategy and mix is a must
  • Full P&L management is a must
  • Understanding of distributor pricing is a must
  • Strong presentation skills are a must
  • Working knowledge of syndicated data (Nielsen, IRI, Diver, etc.)
  • Strength in forward looking strategic thinking is required
  • Ability to work independently and remain focused in an dynamic working environment
  • Passion and mind set for innovation concept generation
  • Ability to communicate effectively both internally and externally, at all levels of the organization
  • International experience is strongly desired
  • Coaching certification is strongly desired

Education and Experience

  • MBA preferred
  • +10 years of FMCG sales and sales management experience required, adult beverage industry is a must
  • Brand Building and Marketing Background highly desired
  • Strong business network across the industry is a must (USA & CA)
  • Distributor management is a must
  • +15 years of experience in a leadership role required
  • Sale force management is required
  • Strategic negotiations experience required
  • Coaching and Mentoring of individuals and teams
  • In this position you should be able to demonstrate the leadership standards (Inspire, Change, Collaborate, Engage and Deliver) within your role on a day-to-day basis
