Data Intelligence Manager - New York, NY

The Data Intelligence Manager will oversee and develop the organization’s Business Intelligence capabilities by synthesizing data from internal and external sources. As the group’s work will affect decision making across the organization, the ideal candidate will possess the ability to put together findings and results into actionable insights. This role will interface with internal and external partners, so the ability to communicate clearly is critical. In addition, the ideal candidate must possess eagerness to learn, ability to adapt, persistence to resolve, and patience to succeed in the long term. 

Job Responsibilities

  • Supervise the Data & Systems Analyst and Pricing & Systems Analyst in ensuring that systems are functional and all underlying data is accurate
  • Deliver and further develop a regular cadence of competitive data and associated insights to support decision-making across the organization
  • Leverage data and systems to produce insights that lead to new business processes and opportunities
  • Oversee Data & Systems Analyst and work cross-functionally with Insights, Digital, and Commercial teams in developing, enhancing, and executing Smart Distribution strategy
  • Project manage local and global IT developers and Vendors to drive system solutions and enhancements with the end goal of making our systems (DRAMS, Nexus, VIP, CSCO, Allocation Model, Vistaar) more accurate, functional, and user-friendly
  • Maintain open communication lines and develop relationships with internal “customers” (Field Marketing & Brand teams) in order to understand organizational needs and drive systems development
  • Develop global alignment on category trend research and shared systems (Nexus)
  • Project manage internal teams and external IT consultants to develop interfaces to connect all ancillary systems, always looking to identify untapped opportunities to improve data accuracy and timeliness and alleviate manual processes
  • Lead the Commercial Finance team in providing White Glove support and training on our systems to end users in Divisional Commercial Finance, Brand, and Field Marketing roles
  • Support the Commercial Finance team in executing our monthly Sales & Operational Planning processes (budgeting and forecasting) by leveraging our internal systems
  • Support Corporate Finance and Supply Chain teams in building best-in-class business systems to more effectively run the organization.
  • Support organization with market and category research and insights as they relate to our business
  • Collate research into meaningful PowerPoint presentations deliverable to senior decision makers for use throughout various strategic meetings
  • Develop models that identify global category and market trends and opportunities
  • Understand how to manage, influence, challenge and exert financial control when necessary
  • Continuously look for opportunities to improve processes and create value; identify issues and provide recommendations for enhancements

Knowledge, Skills & Core Competencies Required

  • Bachelor’s degree required; Concentration in technical field such as finance, economics, computer science, statistics, or engineering is preferred
  • 3+ years’ experience in a data intensive field
  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint is a must
  • Experience with databases and systems is desirable; proficiency with SQL and VBA is a plus
  • Strong ability to adapt to a changing environment; comfortable with ambiguity and always looking to improve
  • Dynamic thinker; must be able to toggle between granular and high level thinking
  • Ability to analyse and solve problems in a creative way
  • Strong project management skills; effective cross-functional communicator

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills are essential; must be comfortable presenting to senior leadership
