The Consumer Insights team empowers a consumer-obsessed culture within Edrington. The team is responsible for helping the brand and commercial teams dissect business challenges and uncover insightful, relevant and impactful opportunities in a timely manner through rigorous research, analysis and ongoing collaboration.
The Consumer Insights Manager will ensure Edrington’s brand marketing and commercial teams are equipped with actionable insights and information to make effective decisions and deliver impactful brand communications, strategies, programs, new products and packaging. This role is forward thinking and demonstrates ability to translate data into insights and strategy recommendations. Areas of responsibility will include creating stories from data; market, category and shopper research; brand health and performance tracking; and measurement of communication and innovation effectiveness.

Job Responsibilities

  • Provide overall support to the brand teams during major strategic market, category and consumer understanding projects. Understand methodologies for qualitative/quantitative projects and deliver and implement recommendations that will help meet research objectives
  • Oversee brand health tracking across specific brands and markets in the Americas, working with local teams to implement consumer and trade tracking and linking to brand planning and objective setting
  • Develop tools and guidelines to empower local teams to run primary research (e.g. campaign evaluation, NPD concept testing, pack tests) themselves to a consistent standard. Recommend and manage agencies and their best practices
  • Act as the ‘evaluation champion’ across specific brands and markets, working with central and local teams to ensure that the progress of key initiatives against objectives is being monitored in a robust and consistent way and links to brand planning and objectives
  • Explore new research and analysis techniques (in particular web-based tools) and share with the brand teams
  • Translate insights and studies/tracker results into stories and tangible action items for the brand and commercial teams
  • Proactively participate as project manager in the program planning process by leading shopper insights research and providing recommendations on methodology and agencies
  • Maintain a repository of consumer insights, category and trend reports for the organization to access. Help condense information for presentations and sales materials.
  • Work collaboratively with our business intelligence, marketing and commercial teams as well as external partners to connect research to broader business metrics, understanding the inputs that influence the outputs of the metrics we track
  • Link Global Insights Planning with Regional Americas Planning to ensure consistency. Challenge the status quo for continuous improvement
  • Lead internal and external workshops related to consumer trends and insights

Knowledge, Skills & Core Competencies Required

  • Bachelor’s Degree required, preferably in Statistics, Economics, Business Administration, or Marketing
  • 5+ years in a consumer insights and/or market research role, either on the agency or client side
  • In-depth knowledge of qualitative and quantitative research techniques; familiarity with analysing, interpreting and presenting data in an engaging and inspiring way
  • Familiarity with web analytics, (e.g. social media monitoring, listening tools)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal and effective influencing skills. Able to build strong relationships throughout the business and partners
  • Comfortable with ambiguity and a dynamic fast-paced environment 
  • Naturally inquisitive and open-minded with an interest in human behaviour
  • Self-starter who can operate independently with minimum supervision
  • Strong project management skills; ability to manage multiple priorities at the same time
  • Entrepreneurial mindset
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Excel
  • Spanish-speaking, a plus
  • Must be at least 21 years of age
  • Must be able to work in the US
  • Must be able to perform work-related travel (approximately 20%)
